CONCLUSION
In conclusion, CC genotype and C allele of TaqI
polymorphism were associated with enhanced susceptibility
to Stage III periodontitis in a Turkish study group.
Furthermore, VDR TaqI polymorphism may be useful to
discriminate between Grade B and Grade C in Stage III
periodontitis. Identifying genetic risk factors according
to the stage and grade of periodontitis will improve our
knowledge about the pathophysiology and can potentially
be used in defining individuals at risk of developing disease
and predicting its progression rate.
